Cast on ...

I cast on my wrap this morning (80 stitches), and got a bit carried away and did 8 rows ... :-)

Hope everyone's projects are going well.

Wow those are long rows -- I've only done smaller projects. What color yarn, pattern, and stitches are you doing?

I am knitting the DNA chart right now in the "learning" yarn, and have gotten up to the first crossing. I knit in combination method (purls are easier to do but are twisted on the needle), and I also figured out how to untwist the purls in seed stitch. Unfortunately that sets me back to zero for the real project, since I have to rip out the eight rows of seed stitch I did before figuring this out. But that's okay, it's the process, not just the result.

Hi thomasina,

This is mostly stockinette stitch, with a four row garter stitch border at the top and bottom, and I knit the first and last 4 stitches of every row, so that it also will have a garter stitch border on the long sides. And then at random intervals I do stripes of reverse stockinette, so that it stands out.

The colors are called Burnt Umber, Ginger, and Nutmeg. It is a brand called Scottish Heather, that I bought years ago, and which I used for my shawl project, which I'm going to undo for this wrap.
